Honour to Whom it is Due


First Indigenous Traveling Secretary of Scripture Union honoured at WAFBEC 2017.


The first indigenous traveling secretary of Scripture Union. Revd. Dr John Oye was celebrated and honoured  at Covenant Christian Centre  during the just concluded West Africa Faith Believers Conference (WAFBEC).

Revd, Dr John Oye who was described as one the fathers of Pentecostalism and Evangelism in Nigeria took up the post of traveling secretary in 1966 going around tertiary institutions in the '60s and '70 raising some of the present generation of Nigerian preachers. He was the traveling secretary between 1966 to 1972.
 
Rev Emiko Amotsuka had the honour of  presenting a trophy to Rev. Oye who was accompanied by his wife. 

In response, Revd. Oye with some tears of joy in his eyes charged the church to depart iniquity and hold fast to God after which he blessed the church and the Senior Pastor of Covenant Christian Center, Pastor Poju.
